New York City-based Sam Eckstein, better known as Esseks is a melodic bass producer, artist, and illustrator with a proven penchant for innovation. While 2020 was a difficult time for the music industry altogether, Esseks barreled through the year and released a string of celebrated singles along with his 2-track EP Soul Stone with Shanghai Doom, and delivered a track for Bassrush’s compilation album The Prophecy Vol 1. Maintaining a full-speed momentum, Esseks stormed the new year with his single “Ellie’s Nap” which was an integral single featured on CloZee’s curated compilation album Emergence. And today marks the start of his next studio album The Villain’s Journey. Kicking off the LP rotation comes “Watching From a Distance,” a tricky bass cut with a subtle hip-hop cadence released via Deadbeats. Psychedelic synths and warped soundscapes interlock to create waves of digital frequencies that wiggle in a freeform motion. A trippy electronic gem with a narcotic flow that sets the stage for the impending album, “Watching From a Distance” is Esseks at his most fluid. Speaking on the track Esseks simply states that this single is “a small piece of a bigger picture.” Watch this space.
