Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano have been very active recently to carry over the message of their music, and they’ve just taken another step toward that goal. Fresh from playing a special two-hour live set for Sensation’s recent ‘Monument Of Light’ event and taking part in Tomorrowland’s virtual festival, the renowned Dutchmen dropped a brand-new, thoroughly empowering single on their SONO Music label: ‘Life After You’ featuring singer-songwriter RANI, the first of a series of new singles and remixes to be released in the months ahead.
Sporting an uplifting message that connects with those looking for a silver lining, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano’s ‘Life After You’ is that record everyone goes to when they need a jolt of positivity. With RANI’s charged vocals telling the story on a beat-heavy backdrop, this track is engineered to strike a chord in listeners worldwide.
Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano had a chance to catch up with Kristine Kennedy and Michael Beas of Raver Magazine, this is what they shared up with us.
What was it like teaming up with ‘Post Malone’ singer RANI on your new collab: ‘Life After You’?
Amazing. It was an absolute pleasure working with her. She’s a real pro! And a real star!
You played an amazing virtual set for Tomorrowland. Talk to us about that experience and the virtual DJ sets in general that you both are performing in now among the worldwide pandemic?
Everything Tomorrowland does is top of the bill. Whether in real life or virtual. They always make it into something special. So we were quite excited to be part of the virtual festival. I guess everyone could see the effort they put into it and how awesome they made us look. Besides it was great being behind the decks again because we really miss performing.
You two usually have a pretty busy travel life touring for shows. How has it been having to take a pause from that and remain at home?
We actually already decided last year to tour less in 2020 although we didn’t expect it be like this 😉 It has been great to spend so much time with the family. Our lives our completely different now. Doing more cooking, a bit of gardening and we’re even got to homeschool our kids. Although it’s nice we do miss going places and wowing the crowd.
If you had to pick one thing that you each hope that you hope fans take away from one of your sets what would it be and why?
We mostly think alike, but this is how we both really feel. We’ve always been in the game to spread peace, love and happiness. Music gives people a chance to get away from all the daily struggles so it’s important to fill those moments with positive vibes. That’s us.
With all this time spent at home, we imagine you’re both spending a lot of time in the studio. Can you give us any hints on what we can expect from you for the rest of 2020?
We have quite some new music coming up this year. At least 4 new tracks. But since the world has been turned upside down because of Corona we are also starting to think differently about when, how and what to release. Everything is up for debate in these challenging times so we could change things. Hey, we might even release an album.
