Mystic underwater enchantment, the magic of it all, the wonder of what is came to life in front of my eyes. Imagine Music Fest was everything I had hoped it to be and so much more. Imagine Music Festival had celebrated its 5th year anniversary with little to no disappointment. With the growth of the festival and all of the great rumors I’ve heard from past attendees, I knew the moment I set up my camp I was in the right place. I had heard so many great things about the founders, Glenn and Madeleine Goodhand that not only did they listen, but catered to what attendees needed to make sure that everyone was in a safe haven.
The early bird camping was perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to walk the extra distance to get into the festival itself. Not only were me and my significant other extremely close to the entrance, but close to the strip of vendors, bathrooms, and showers! The extra money is worth the comfort and “homey” feeling. Speaking of “homey,” the free 24/7 showers available were an absolute lifesaver! I don’t think I’ve ever been to a festival that has had free showers for everyone, it was absolutely refreshing to know that not only did I not have to smell like a wook foot, but I could go and freshen up anytime, anyday…no cost. It helped beyond words.
The extra water stations and garbage disposals not only kept everyone hydrated but had also kept the place relatively clean throughout the weekend, which made it easy to practice good sustainability! The festival’s staff was also an absolute amazing reminder that even if you were alone, you weren’t. They were called “Imaginary Friends” and they were there to assist you if you needed anything at all, with no judgment, water, a helping hand and an ear to lend, they made everything better in a way. I can’t thank the Imaginary Friends enough for stopping by and letting us all know who they were and what they were all about!
Despite everything that’s great about a festival and all the kindness, I’ve been shown, as you all know it’s about the music…and wow, the lineup was unreal! My personal favorite was Zhu, he had such a unique vibe and set that left me in awe. It was chill and real and relaxed as ever. There was so much to choose from but only a select few I could attend, but I can honestly say that aside from Zhu, Leah Culver has a very special spot in my heart. This girl does NOT play around okay, this girl threw down one of the sickest sets I have seen since Rezz. She’s the total package; she sings, plays instruments, and DJ’s?! She’s a triple threat to society and is a force to be reckoned with! A special shoutout to 12th Planet as he progresses his career into the future, I remember seeing him open up for Bassnectar a couple years ago and has not only gotten more comfortable but has accelerated what I’ve seen. Last but certainly not least: The Glitch Mob. The sound of something incredibly unique and different is something I can always respect and admire because, honestly, doing this as long as I have I need something new and they have that. Definitely check them out if you ever get a chance!
I can go on and on about the lineup but that wouldn’t leave much room for anything else now would there? All of the acts were pure and special to me and I can’t put into words the amazing talent that I’ve seen. I rate this fest a 10 out of 10 on a musical variety and “wellness” scale. I can honestly say that I can only see this festival expanding more and bettering itself every year and that your voice is heard with the founders. With that being said…thank you Imagine Festival! I can’t wait to see you all next year!
