A Groovy New Beat that is Genre Defining… Don’t Miss Johny Dar’s new single Alien Animal. Full Support from us at Raver Mag.
This cosmic offering, along with previous single “Gigi” are precursors to his upcoming album and live show Dardelica, co-produced by Dan Vinci (Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Snoop Dogg, Flo Rida Big Narstie, Example, Skream, Jessie Ware).
‘Alien Animal’ comes as the newest single released from the debut album Dardelica, which aims to spearhead the ‘revo-future’ of electronic dance music, and features Dar’s original ‘alien-rap’ – an organic vocal expression, developed over decades and featured on every track on the album.
Artist, designer and musician Johny Dar delivers yet another (inter)stellar single, titled “Alien Animal”. This cosmic offering, along with previous single “Gigi” (which received support from the likes Clash Mag, Paste Mag and Music Week), are precursors to his upcoming album and live show Dardelica, co-produced by Dan Vinci (Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Snoop Dogg, Flo Rida Big Narstie, Example, Skream, Jessie Ware). Already well-known in fashion and design circles, Dar has collaborated with a slew of artists including Jessie J, Florence Welch, Harry Styles, Sir Elton John, Carla Bruni, Bryan Adams, Julio Iglesias, Tom Waits, Dannii Minogue, Marianne Faithfull, Victoria Beckham, Melanie C and Sam Smith, on a host of creative projects.
‘Alien Animal’ is the third single from Johny Dar’s debut album Dardelica, which aims to spearhead the ‘revo-future’ of electronic dance music, and features Dar’s original ‘alien-rap’ – an organic vocal expression, developed over decades and featured on every track on the album. Fused with cutting edge electronic production, ‘alien-rap’ is revealed in new forms and dimensions with each new single release.
A boundless creative talent, Dar works simultaneously in many arenas, including art, fashion and film as well as music, inspired by a broad range of cultures and traditions, explored during his extensive travels around the world. His creations have featured at London’s Saatchi Gallery, on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, and in countless locations worldwide. 2017 saw him devote his runway shows to the Jeans For Refugees initiative, showcasing hand-painted celebrity-donated denims alongside his couture collection, to international acclaim. He has been featured in publications including Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Le Monde, Die Zeit, New York Times, Harpers Bazaar, Fault, Hunger, Kaltblut, Aesthetica, Tatler, and Flair among others.
Johny Dar shies away from citing specific influences, preferring to keep his ears and mind free in order to create entirely original artistic expressions, and does not generally seek inspiration from other artists. However, Dardelica has been described as having similarities to Daft Punk, Moby, Chemical Brothers, Infected Mushroom and KLM. And now, he has redesigned language itself. Dar’s very own ‘alien’ tongue subsumes existing human language into a ‘universal’ language, with more depth and more capacity for expression. “It’s not really a human language,’ he explains, ‘I’ve been speaking it since I was a kid and no one on earth understood it – my parents were wondering what was wrong with me! I’ve always been an alien in this world, somehow. For a minute I tried to fit in but failed, so I had to re-create my own world from scratch, and this language was a part of that. My new single Alien Animal is about that journey – it’s a celebration of individuality and fearless self-acceptance.”
Reminiscent of “Big Bad Wolf” by Duck Sauce (over 10 Million Youtube views), ‘Alien Animal’ is a sonic concoction with an authentic, anthemic quality that is hard to resist. Wild and eccentric, the track is a visceral celebration of the instinctive and primal; hypnotically compelling basslines merge with gravelly undertones, conjuring a sense of playful suspense and a real alien animal on the prowl. ‘Alien Animal’ is true to its name – a confident conceptual cross breed, and celebration of individuality, that offers fresh insight into the original world of Dardelica.
Speaking about his new single, Johny Dar states: “There is an alien animal inside each of us. We have been asleep and the time has come to break out of our cages. There is so much more to life when you discover you are an alien animal!’”
