Three Artists To Catch at Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival
WRITTEN BY SANDRA SANTANA
The portal will to Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival will be opening again March 1st – 4th, opening the floodgates into an the beautiful Sunshine Grove in central Florida. This year we can expect some improvements with the sound quality, new stage production, and the return of the fire hot Incendia stage. Okeechobee has been referred to as the “East Coast Coachella” many times, but it is so much more than that. Okeechobee is a tight knit community composed of individuals both young and old who come together to coexist over three days, filled with an eclectic musical experience. With that being said, here are some of the artists that you should check out this year.
ThriftworksI recently discovered Thriftworks as I was meditating in a yoga class. Thriftworks is one of those artists you can say has “chill vibes”, the purpose in his sound is to take you into a level of higher consciousness. Thriftworks will have you floating on a cloud of elation, and his melodic tunes will put you in a trance. I can’t get enough of Thirftworks because every single song is so different and pure. My favorite song by Thriftworks is “Wrist Wrist Wrist” and I always use this song in my yoga practice. For all of you yogis out there, I hope you can find some new tunes to practice with after experiencing his set first hand.
Honey Dijon is an influential woman in the dance music industry, her style and sound quickly becoming iconic around the world. With her melanin and music popping, I can guarantee that you probably won’t leave Jungle 51. Honey Dijon is known for her versatility within her sets, so you’ll have to expect the unexpected. Aside from her music, she is an activist for trans gender rights and aims to share her story through her music. Her music has passion, heart, and soul. Each song is a piece of experiences, struggles, and triumphs in the electronic music scene. Her latest release, “The Best of Both Worlds” is a perfect example of the values that she incorporates in her music.
CloZee is a French producer that I recently discovered at Basscenter. She combines bass along with a unique tribal sound. Her sound is so hypnotizing and immersive. CloZee creates an experience with her music by taking listeners on a journey through time and space. A great producer is able to recreate songs and make them their own and that’s exactly what she did when she remixed a very popular Brazilian song called “Baiana.” Give it a listen herehttps://soundcloud.com/clozee/barbatuques-baiana-clozee-remix
Okeechobee will be bigger and better than ever this year. We can’t wait to bask in the sun, create new experiences, discover new music alongside with wonderful human beings.]]>
