Following on from his critically-received EP ‘Sun Kissed Computer’, New York-based Wassu drops the third of his recent run of remixes, the absolutely sublime ‘Follow The Tide’ from Elliot Moriarty and Hattie Snooks.
Managing to combine warmth from organic piano chords and rivulets of percussion, with the cool ethereal nature of Snooks’ sweeping vocal, Wassu delivers an almost timeless edit of Moriarty’s original cut, one that could easily stand alongside any number of classic trance anthems in the mix.
“I initially got connected to Flug Lab label owner, Lisandro, through our collective releases on When We Dip Tales of Romance,” Wassu said. “He reached out to me for music for his Best of 2020 Compilation released this past December. He then continued to send me beautiful music from the label, including this original by Elliot and Hattie. With the offer to be a part of the remix EP, I wanted to make sure that I didn’t deviate too far away from the original. This came together, unsurprisingly, very quickly as the original parts were perfect to work with.”
Wassu is a name to watch from New York’s heaving, competitive electronic scene, having played alongside the likes of Above & Beyond, Bob Moses, Jody Wisternoff, DJ Tennis and Maceo Plex, released on Anjunadeep, When We Dip and TRYBESof, and claiming support from Lee Burridge, Tony McGuinness, Tim Green and James Grant. With more music promised, fans of this rising star should be able to thoroughly indulge their ears over the rest of 2021.
