Sheryl Lynn’s leadership ability and experiences help her approach client issues with a practical, solutions-based focus. Her experience includes roles as the founder and owner of a successful family-owned consulting firm, where she was the director of marketing and public relations. She was also the business development director for several firms in the consumer-packaged goods industry.

Sheryl led organizations where she worked with business owners and entrepreneurs on their business, marketing and strategic plans, team and leadership development, and creating effective marketing efforts.

Now as the founder of JOYELY Studios, Sheryl creates mindful practices and experiences to shift the collective consciousness towards making joy the dominant vibration on the planet.  Sheryl’s touchstone is her Chair of Joy, a beautiful white padded throne with gold trim; she invites executives, thought leaders, musicians, celebrities, politicians, and other influencers to tell stories of what brings them joy while seated either in her Chair or their own — and magic happens pure and simple.

The coaching model Sheryl uses is mindfulness-based.  As JOYELY unfolds, Sheryl will continue to gather Leaders of Joy, creating a dynamic and delightful organization with joy at the center. Together, we are assisting executives and emerging leaders of larger organizations to lead with joy.  Sheryl courageously and relentlessly facilitates programs, products, and services to implement joy in every organization, association, as well as in the communities she works with. I had a chance to catch up with Sheryl for an exclusive interview, this is what she shared up with me.

Talk to us about the inspiration behind JOYELY. How was it founded and how did it come to fruition?

Hi! Thanks for having me! I set out to create an alternative to the many mindful/meditative practices that truly work but are sorely underused. In fact, The Good Body statistics state that only 14% of Americans have tried mediation. It is growing in popularity of course, and yet we have a long way to go to truly realize the impact of the power of sitting still.

So many of our many clients state that some of the reasons they don’t take the time to sit down and be quiet per the mediation query are that we often forget or fail to schedule time for breathing and coming to a FULL STOP into our day. Who has time for that? Many are just too busy and some feel like we get the mindfulness rules right.  Certainly many doubt the validity of taking breaks often and it is common to find doubters about why raising our vibration in the body in a calm way really works.

JOYELY and Living JOYELY is supported by science and we have seen thousands of people transform with a few minutes of direction from our certified coaches about the practice of creating a JOYELY State.  This begins the process of living a JOYELY lifestyle and yes, joyely ever after!

JOYELY is a brand that provides inspirational, meditative, and transformational experiences that are easy and interesting to implement, some even say fun! We ultimately are asking people to develop a lifestyle that revolves around living JOYELY.

Personally, as the founder of JOYELY, I have always wanted to create a practice that was easy to use and allowed me to use the creative juices flowing through me while meditating. As a busy business owner, I tend to be unfocused most of the time. Over time, I studied and evaluated the tools on the market and purchased so many programs only to discover it was not what I found to effectively get calm and relax.

The Chair of Joy and The JOYELY Process is 25 years in the making.  These skills that I have learned have given me a way to address and handle what comes my way during the day. Especially those 60K thoughts coming our way, of which 90% are repetitive!  I am now able to stop running in so many directions, searching, and hoping to uncover real, sustainable joy.   I knew I wanted some level of joy every day even when life was complicated, confusing, and chaotic.  My hope for myself and all others while on this planet is that we play out our lives fully, even dance and uncover ALL the music inside us or as much as we can anyway.   In addition, I am now mastering the ACTIVE State of JOYELY. My wish is to address my own mental health and well-being and include those that suffer with me from anxiety, worry, fear, etc.  We now have a plan that feels real and good. It is called – The JOYELY Process and lifestyle. It works for me, and I know it is for many others as well.

The Chair of Joy is a remarkable concept. For those new to JOYELY how can you best describe the Chair of Joy and more so the Chair of Joy Challenge?

JOYELY, LLC is using the highest calibrated emotion of JOY to improve the lives of people daily, personally, and professionally.

This lifestyle of Living JOYELY ultimately produces a radical change in the world.

The Chair of Joy is a tiny habit, a small but persistent daily ritual that produces interruption and creates differences in physiological activation. This activation with a focus on joyfulness might ultimately impact physical disease risk, mental stability, emotional balance along with the production of desired outcomes.   A person’s thoughts and emotions can affect an individual’s health and well-being significantly. We challenge everyone to locate a CHAIR OF JOY near them, hopefully away from their desks and smartphones.   Any Chair, anywhere, anytime is the idea.  If you are fishing, there is a rock, or on a walk, you might find a park bench.  Many people pick a comfy chair somewhere in their house, nothing fancy, but the one that says to you when you walk by, “HEY YOU, over here, come sit down and let’s focus on Living JOYELY.”  There is a bit more to this process and we are sharing this with as many people as we can right now.

You have helped people to begin a life of Living JOYELY, in your words, what does Joy mean to Sheryl Lynn? 

To us, the word JOYELY describes a fulfilling and vibrant lifestyle bathed in happiness, bliss, and jubilation. Living JOYELY is living elevated beyond just the occasional state of joy. Learning to live JOYELY is learning how to make joy the default in your daily life.

At JOYELY, we are here to make joy a priority in the lives of people everywhere and help all people and of all ages who believe that this focus on joy can be beneficial in their lives.  When we learn how to live our lives in a JOYELY state, good things happen!  We have already helped thousands of people from all walks of life to access, sustain, and activate the intense, positive emotion known as Joy.

According to Dr. David Hawkins, JOY is calibrated as the highest vibrational emotion known to humankind. From a world view, what is possible if seniors, veterans, teachers, politicians, and climate change folks sat in their Chair of Joy, as they really made the emotion of joy a priority?  As my friend Shelli Brunswick, COO of Space Foundation says, “When we work together to raise the consciousness of everyone, will we be able to fully unlock human capacity.”

We provide transformational experiences for individuals, corporations, and educational channels that produce desired outcomes and measurable results.

One of the main focuses of our work is diving into the notion of HAPPY Vs. JOY. And then what’s beyond knowing joy and an occasional stage of joy?  We believe that happiness is fleeting and external.  We have to go find something to make us happy.  A good example is eating an ice cream cone.  This is a great way to source happiness, yet ice cream cones are gone after just a few minutes.   We might not be in a state of happiness after that because we are sad the ice cream cone was gone so fast. Then we have to find the new “happy” thing. This is all good because when we are able to pile up those happy moments we can then enhance and develop a more joyful life.  Of the hundreds of people we have had on our podcasts and interview sessions, the ones that are truly joyful most of the time, work at it every single day, all day long.  They are relentless and intentional about accessing joy, the joy they have inside of them because it’s FREE and easy to access.  Of course, we have continued discussions about how to sustain that joy and become a Master of Joy, one that has an extra container of joy to share with others.

What is the one takeaway that you hope people who read this article can apply to their lives? 

 

We help people remember from every conversation and from our continuous encouragement of living a JOYELY lifestyle that they HEAR that JOY is not one day, someday, or that you go someplace or buy something to begin to see the results of what this type of living can help you with daily.  You may not want to take a rocket to the moon or own a massive company, but you want to build play the guitar or hang out with a friend. Living JOYELY  is knowing that where you are at today, what you have, what you do with the people you surround yourself with thus far are choices you made, and in these choices, there is a great amount of joy, daily.  Knowing this, allows each person to address every moment with a new perspective.

We also love when we see people showing up to live life fully as often as possible NOW because now is all we have. Scientific findings indicate that greater positive affect is associated with reduced activation of neuroendocrine, cardiovascular, and inflammatory processes that are relevant to health. A research study published in Neurobiology of Aging suggested that positive affective states are linked to favorable health outcomes through their influence on health-related biology, and maybe particularly relevant in old age, the accumulation of risk factors leads to increased risk of chronic disease. Indeed, scientific studies demonstrated that joyfulness can make our hearts healthier, our immune systems stronger, and our lives longer.

Geoffrey has been practicing the Chair of Joy Sessions for over 6 months and his life has transformed into living in a more JOYELY state more often. After just a few days of sitting still in his Chair of Joy a few times a day, he realized that a physical move to a new home and city was weighing on his heart.  He had been thinking about it for a decade and decided that the time was NOW, it was now imminent. Quickly he made plans to move to the dream city he had only in his mind just the day before. Two short months later, he moved 2000 miles away with his wife and children.  Geoffrey is now living the JOYELY lifestyle and thrilled to be in his new home and building the community he knew was available to him. Miracles like this one are happening often for him as he brought his “deck Chair of Joy ” to his new place and has continued the practice. Furthermore, Geoffery has told us that he has become a better human, allowing himself to be more vulnerable, patient, and intuitive as a father and husband.
