What is Oregon Eclipse Festival? By Rayy VB

If you don’t already know; there is a Total Solar Eclipse happening on August 21st and there is a music festival planned at one of the best locations to watch it (weather permitted, of course).

The festival will be taking place at Big Summit Prairie, Ochoco National Forest in Mitchell, Oregon from August 17th – August 23rd and is expected to be a pretty amazing experience.

Put on by Global Eclipse Gathering, Symbiosis Gathering and 11 other collaborating events, including Bass Coast (CAN), Beloved (US), Envision Festival (CR), Hadra (FR), Noisily (UK), Ometeotl (MX), Origin Festival (SA), Rainbow Serpent (AUS), Re:Birth (JPN), Sonic Bloom (US), and Universo Paralello (BR); Oregon Eclipse will be more than just a festival. This year, O.E. is taking place in turn of the Symbiosis’s annual gathering. You can expect an atmosphere similar to that of Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom Festival, and Rainbow Serpent Festival. Symbiosis has been referred to as a “transformational festival” encouraging both to personal transformation, self-realization, and steering the transformation of culture toward sustainability.

While known to be a spiritually igniting experience, you will be able to engage in yoga, self-help, spiritual guidance, and educational workshops in designated areas while attending the very diverse festival. There will be live art, healthy food, clothing vendors, as well as art installations to admire. You will also be able to get the best view of the festival by hopping into a hot air balloon with a trained guide and elevate your experience by soaring freely over the festival grounds! How awesome!

Along with all of the awesomeness; it wouldn’t quite be a festival without the music. This year Symbiosis is bringing in a wide variety of talented artists from around the world to serenade our tune-hungry ears. Dropping the biggest lineup of the summer; O.E. will feature over 300 acts across 7 different themed stages. We couldn’t be more excited to see Bassnectar, STS9, Minnesota, G Jones, Eprom, Zeke Beats, Lee Foss, and SO MANY MORE! Check out the lineups for the 7 unique stages below!

What makes O.E. even more awesome is the integrity behind the festival. It is a mutual understanding to everyone involved that this festival is a leave-no-trace event. Meaning we agree to do no harm to the environment and anything we bring with us, we take with us when we go, much like some of the other festivals mentioned above. There’s an unspoken general understanding to respect the beautiful site in which the event will be held. It definitely contributes to the overall atmosphere and energy of the festival.

On the Monday of the total solar eclipse, all stages will fall silent as we become one and observe the cosmos align. The festival location is along the ‘best view’ path of the solar eclipse, giving you the opportunity to take full advantage of this spiritually moving, phenomenal experience. This will be the first Total Solar Eclipse seen in the continental US since 1979.

While the festival has been sold out for quite some time, they are releasing a final tier of tickets to you last minute planners on July 17th!
