His tracks ‘Rise Up’ and ‘Zookey’ set the dance world on fire so it was no surprise that Swiss super producer Yves Larock was asked to craft another huge anthem, this time for the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, scheduled to be held in his home nation in May this year.
Unsurprisingly, like most other things right now the Championships have been postponed but that doesn’t mean Yves’ music stops flowing! With so many sentiments doing the rounds right now, we asked Yves to provide us with the perfect video playlist for whatever you might be feeling right now. Check these beauties out and give Yves’ latest single ‘Here We Go’, with Swiss singer Bastian Baker on vocals, a listen too:
Yves Larock & Bastian Baker ‘Here We Go’
A song to lift your spirits
Mory Kante ‘Yeke Yeke’
I find that this track and African music in general, has an energy that no other music has. This is such an amazing some and it always makes me smile.
A song to warm up the dance floor
Diplo ‘On my Mind’
I love Diplo, his music is so energetic, he’s a real genius when it comes to producing music and he knows exactly how to create a dance floor bomb. This one does it every time.
Your perfect dance floor destroyer
Norman Doray ‘Filtré’ Chocolate Puma rmx
I’ve been playing this song for years and I don’t get tired of it and neither do people on the dance floor… He has a huge energy that comes straight from the rhythm.
Your favourite remix (of any song)
Mylo ‘Drop The Pressure’ Claptone rmx
The first time I heard the original, it was Pete Tong who played it during Miami WMC, many years ago. It’s always good to hear such a good remix made by Claptone, always as groovy as I want it
A song to chill out to on a Sunday morning
Protoje feat. Chronixx ‘Who Knows’
This track makes me want to stretch out on a hammock and drink coconut juice… the hook is just beautiful
A song to get your started on a Monday morning
The Weeknd – Blinding Lights
This track is bursting with energy and that carefree vibe of the 80s, and The Weeknd’s voice is just completely perfect as usual
A song to send to your loved one
Rose Royce ‘Wishing On A Star’
Rose Royce’s voice is so soft and suave, I would really like my sweetheart to sing it to me
A song that reminds you of your favourite times
Dr Dre feat. Snoop Dogg ‘Nuthing But A G Thang’
This song reminds me of my adolescence! I was a fan of hip hop and the first time I heard this song I fell in love with it. The flow of Snoop Dogg on a production by Dr Dre, what is better?
A song when you’re feeling sad
Cat Stevens ‘Lady d’Arbanville’
The guitar, the voice, the emotion, the simplicity that makes music so beautiful, this is just sheer genius.
A song when you’re feeling mad
Skrillex & Damian Marley ‘Make it Bun Dem’
Skrillex is for me one of the best producers in the world and I’m a fan of Damian Marley, his flow, his voice, so the mixture of the two was only ever going to drive me crazy in the best way.
A song that you might not want to admit you like
Frozen II ‘Into the Unknown’
When I went to see the film with my daughter, I had this song in my head every morning. It was driving me crazy but I understand why, it is super well produced!
A song that you think more people should know about
Fritz Kalkbrenner ‘Golden’
This track is on his last album. I really like what Fritz Kalkbrenner is doing, he has a great ability to put his voice on underground music and I find that it works very well
A song that might be overplayed but you still love it
David Guetta ‘Titanium’
I played this track as soon as it was released and I continue to play it, it’s an absolute classic.
A song that has stood the test of time
Michael Jackson ‘Billie Jean’
Michael Jackson influenced all modern music and his entire repertoire has not aged.
Your favourite song that you made yourself
Yves Larock ‘Zookey’
It was my first success with a Caribbean influence, I always play it purely for the pleasure of it, which is not the case for many of my songs 🙂
