Eli of “Magic Men Australia” chatted with Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a performer in Australia, creating digital content, and he shared his love for electronic dance music (EDM).
NBA superstar Michael Jordan once said: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Eli of “Magic Men Australia” is an individual, model, and performer that exemplifies this inspirational quote by “Air Jordan.”
Born in Australia, Eli revealed that his mother is Italian and that his father is Scottish. He performs for “Magic Men Australia” in their popular Melbourne location.
On being a part of the “Magic Men Australia” cast and family, he exclaimed, “It feels good. Initially, I started out using my real name, Andy, and then, after a while, I realized that having both a modeling career and a Magic Men career doesn’t mix very well. Having an alias was helpful hence the name Eli came about.”
“I started ‘Magic Men Australia’ about six years ago when I was 20 years old,” he recalled.
On being a performer, model, and content creator in the digital age (at a time when technology, social media, and streaming are so prevalent), Eli said, “It’s a great opportunity for growth in terms of growing your business or brand whether that’s personal growth or professional growth. You see that with Will Parfitt, he has made himself a brand outside of ‘Magic Men Australia’ really. Thanks to the digital age, the opportunities to expand and grow are enormous. I hope to be doing ‘Magic Men Australia’ for more years to come.”
He had great words for veteran performer Ceaser Smith. “The reason why Ceaser is so good is because he is such a nice guy. Ceaser is perhaps one of the nicest guys on the team, he genuinely really cares about everybody,” Eli said.
“Sean Wepener is also very good, I have done some gigs with him and he is really fun to work with,” Eli admitted. “The vast majority of the ‘Magic Men Australia’ performers are all really nice people and they are really cool.”
Regarding his daily motivations, Eli remarked, “Initially, my path this year was to make a lot of money, as well as buy two cars and put in some savings towards buying a house. Financially, those were my goals. Also, I served as a referee for soccer, which was my other occupation prior to ‘Magic Men Australia.’ I used to play soccer a lot but then I became a referee, which I have been doing since I was 14 years old.”
“Once I made the transition from a topless waiter to a stripper for ‘Magic Men Australia,’ it was a massive kick in my life so I decided to put more energy and time in that route so I put all of my energy in this revue,” he added.
For young and aspiring performers and content creators, he said, “Don’t be stifled for making the content that you are trying to create perfect. Don’t be worried about whether or not it has to be 100 percent perfect, or think that it has to get a certain amount of views to be worthy of posting because that will prevent you from posting anyway.”
“The best thing is to post and just improve from there,” he added. “Authenticity is important. Making your audience on social media aware that you are being authentic with them is critical in terms of having a good audience that responds well to everything that you post.”
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Eli responded, “Mayhem.”
Eli is a huge fan of the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, and he enjoys attending concerts in that genre. “My favorite part about electronic dance music would have to be the energy and the feeling that you get for it in terms of listening to it. These days, I’ve gone to music events and festivals, and when I listen to the music now, it always brings back those memories being at those festivals. The music always brings me back to good times,” he explained, underscoring the genre’s nostalgia value.
Eli concurred that at electronic dance music shows, there is a feeling of euphoria in the venues, and rightfully so.
If Eli were to have any superpower, he noted that it would be “flying.” “My choice of superpower changes from day to day,” he said.
He listed the “breaststroke” as his personal favorite stroke in swimming, and in the track and field world, Eli picked the 800 meters and 1,500 meters races as his events of choice. “I grew up doing track and field, that’s my bread and butter,” he said. “I was really good at longer distance running.”
“The beauty about the breaststroke, for me, was that it was a hard stroke to learn, so it took me a while to learn it. I used to be good in every other stroke except breaststroke, which prevented me from going to a top level in that age group, but when I mastered it, the breaststroke ended up becoming my favorite stroke in the sport. It involves a lot of technique,” he added.
Eli defined the word success as “when you have achieved a desired outcome.” “When you have set a goal and you completed it, that’s what success is to me,” he said.
For the dedicated “Magic Men Australia” fans and supporters, Eli concluded, “Thanks for the love and the support. The love is always brought back to you. I love the support that I get from the fans that I have, and I look forward to trying to push that message out there towards them a little bit more with my social media going forward.”
