September 27, 2024 – Renowned visionary producer and composer Aaron Hibell teams up with Melodic Afro Innovator Alex Wann to release their highly anticipated single, ‘Set Me Free’, out now on Astralwerks. The collaboration highlights the unique talents of both artists, merging Hibell’s cinematic, emotive production style with Wann’s signature deep percussive rhythms, creating a powerful, melodic track that is both captivating and forward-thinking.
‘Set Me Free’ is an enthralling blend of raw emotion and cutting-edge sound design. The track seamlessly layers Hibell’s orchestral and trance-influenced production with Wann’s groove-driven beats, resulting in an epic listening experience.
“‘Set Me Free’ is a very special record to me. Like many of my tracks they go through a plethora of different versions. My manager sent me the isolated vocal one day that he’d dug out from an old playlist of songs and I initially started a harder trance version. It was okay but it was missing the feeling which I strive for. He suggested I try it in a slightly different style and I made a slower more melodic version, and it was night and day. We instantly knew this was the type of song we wanted on the album but hadn’t yet made. I had become close with Alex Wann after he remixed my song ‘ghost’ and it turned out this was the perfect song for us to collaborate on. He added his grooves and sounds and brought it into another world. When we started playing it live we realized the power of the record. Then seeing the reaction of it being played live by the likes of Rufus Du Sol and Adriatique too we knew we had something special on our hands. “This release is one I have been really excited about for some time now. Myself and Aaron made this back in January and since we started playing it out we’ve been getting a crazy amount of attention on the release. It’s not something either of us saw coming as we are both from such different worlds musically. Maybe that’s what people are finding exciting, a cross-over from the Afro-House and Trance scene. I’ve been using this track to close all my sets this summer so I am excited to get it out into the world”. – Alex Wann
