Fusing atmosphere and groove to silken effect, LA-based soundslikeLANG has overcome all the odds to drop his emotionally charged debut EP ‘Midnight and the City’.
Winning widespread acclaim thanks to gently undulating composition that feels both organic and electronic, soundslikeLANG’s three-track body of work is reminiscent of artists like Odesza, RUFUS DU SOL, Bonobo and Lane 8. Exquisitely crafted using blissed-out synth lines, barely-there percussion and deep layers of soporific, padded instrumentation, the hypnotic production in tracks ‘Back When…’ and ‘Last Train Home’ are almost meditative in quality. Even the EP’s third and final single ‘Fire Alarm’, while more driving than its counterparts, manages to maintain a sense of ethereal dreaminess that elevates it as part of the whole.
Having worked in the creative industry shooting videos and photos for the likes of Justin Bieber, Poo Bear, James Cameron, Aaron Paul, the Kardashians, The Game, Post Malone, B.O.B., Russell Westbrook, Olivia Culpo, Kelly Rowland and more, it was during the lockdown that he stepped out from behind the camera and into the studio himself to create his own work. If ‘Midnight and the City’ is anything to go by, his growing army of fans is in for an absolute treat across the rest of 2022. With a string of new releases set to preempt a sophomore EP and new collaborations in the pipeline, soundslikeLANG will also be performing live at dates in LA and across the States.
